    Description

Peter G Thompson of Cincinnati Ohio was a card game manufacturer from the 1890s.  They were purchased by McLoughlin Brothers at the end of their run.  Here is a collection of 6 vintage card games for your consideration:
    1.  Old Maid/Old Batchelor:  This game comes in a slide box that has been repaired with thread.  The Litho is very colorful.  There are 17 pairs of cards along with the Old Maid/Old Batchelor card which as some damage (a tear on the right hand side of the card).  The directions are also with the game.  The box is worn as are the cards, but there are no major problems like cards torn in half etc.  The box is 4.25 x 3.25 inches
    2.  Old Maid:  This game comes in a slide box that has a lot of paper missing from the sides.  The front of the box has a patina, but you can still read the red letters indicating it is a Thomson card game.  There are 16 pairs of cards along with the Old Maid card and the directions.  The cards are worn thin with age spots and some staining, but no major tears.  The box is 4 x 3 inches.
    3.  Familiar Quotations from Popular Authors:  I'm pretty sure this game was "borrowed" from another manufacturer.  The game comes in a slip box which as some scuffing, but no major damage.  The cards have no pictures, just words which quote various pieces of work.  The instructions are present as well.  The cards are in very good shape and the game is complete.  The box is 4.25 x 3.25 inches.
    4.  Peter Coddles trip to New York:  This game comes in a slip box and is in good condition.  There are a number of slips of paper with various words and phrases.  The slips have blue backs.  The narrative booklet is there - 10 pages in all.  Quite readable, although some slight staining.  The box is 4.25 x 3.25 inches.
    5.  The Game of Authors:  This game comes in a two-part box with some paper loss on the aprons.  The box cover is bright with colors coming through very well.  There are 60 cards (complete) along with the instructions.  The cards only have writing on them and have a light blue color on the backs.  The box is 6 x 4.5 inches.
    6.  The Game of Musical Authors:  This game comes in a two-part box  with some wear and a loose Litho on the cover.  The Litho is all there, but has come loose on one side from the box.  The cards are in good shape and are complete with 24 sets of 4 cards (96 total).  There is a set of instructions but it is a copy from another game of Authors.  There is a newspaper clipping from the turn of the century which came with the game when I bought it.  I pass it along.  Perhaps it was part of an ad for the game - it is not clear how it relates.  The box is 6.0 x 4.75 inches.
All I can say for sure is that the boxes are from Peter G. Thomson because they are all identified with that name.  The cards inside are thought to be the original ones with the game, but I have only owned them for the past 10 years of their 135 year existence!
